Tomorrow August 1, 2008, will occur a total eclipse of the sun on the part of the Earth. NASA Television will provide live event for observers worldwide via Internet, thanks to a partnership created between the University of California, Berkeley and the Exploratorium. On August 1, the total solar eclipse will be visible to the naked eye in parts of Canada, northern Greenland, the Arctic, central Russia, Mongolia and China. dornier do 24 The eclipse will cover the Earth in a narrow path that begins in the northern province of Canada called Nunavut and end in the northern region of Silk Road from China to sunset. A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes directly between Earth and the sun. When the shadow of the moon reflected on Earth, people who are within that shadow look like the moon blocking some of the sunlight. The shadow of the Moon has two parts, a umbra and penumbra. The umbra is the "inner" part of the shadow dornier do 24 of the moon. The penumbra dornier do 24 is the "external" faint shadow of the moon. During a total solar eclipse, as that will happen tomorrow, the moon will cover the entire Sun for observers located in the umbral shadow of the Moon. Those who are watching the eclipse in the area of the penumbral shadow of the moon look like the moon cover part of the sun. At the moment of totality, when the Sun is completely obscured by the shadow of the moon, outer atmosphere Sun, called the solar corona, it will become visible. This is a rare sight to see and coveted by experienced observers of eclipses and also a stunning dornier do 24 view for new viewers. The solar corona extends more than 620,000 miles of the visible surface of the Sun and reaches temperatures of up to 2 million degrees. Wuaaaauuu .... your blog, as well as others have praised is just great, I share with you astronomical tastes just like a field of my interest, but this site aims straight away into space filling it fully. Ask permission to use from time to time, some of your pictures. Atte ... Bernardo from Chile. 4:10 a.m.
I remember very well that of the August 11, 1999 ... pity it was not total (Southern Italy)! For a total eclipse in Italy must await the year 2081 ... because I have to go see it in another country! 11:42 a.m.
Orion Hi, thanks for your comments'm glad you like the blog and share this hobby called astronomy, every day with new and exciting surprises as confirmation of the discovery of water on Mars by the Phoenix probe. Regarding the use of images you can use as you want, I'm posting a Creative dornier do 24 Commons license with which you can use the content of the page whenever you refer, you can see the bottom of the page, and I hope you continue enjoying the blog. You can already feel (visually at least) like you're orbiting our planet. Live, 24 hours a day and in high definition. All thanks to the link made by the NASA with a series redglare of cameras located on board the International Space Station sent to Earth (and hence the entire Red) images captured from 400 kms. high).
A few days after they arrived redglare at the ISS have already been fitted with four HD cameras aimed at enabling the verification of resistance that have to work in space, and to do nothing better than placing them on the International Space Station.

There is less than a day for Curiosity game hero fighter lands on Mars. The largest ever built Mars probe will land on the crater floor Gale morning Monday, August 6 at 05:31 UTC, 7:31 CET Spanish. NASA TV will broadcast the event, although I recommend other options if you want to take advantage of this great event.
On the one hand, sondasespaciales.com start broadcasting since this afternoon and during the hours and minutes prior to landing will make connections MDSCC (Communications Complex in Madrid Deep Space) and the Centre for Astrobiology INTA. The NASA TV signal will be discussed by various 'pundits' -what horror of word that will go commenting on what going on, including a server will. What you'll see on TV Probes, although you can also consult the forums if you have any questions about the mission.
If you prefer to watch NASA TV signal without much 'interference', you can follow the descent of MSL in Amazings.es from 6:30 am Spanish game hero fighter peninsular hour, ie one hour before landing. In this case, the television signal will be discussed via chat by César Tomé (@ Edocet), Javier Pedreira (@ wicho), Julian Estevez (@ Jelbros) and myself. For its part, the Centre for Astrobiology INTA also va broadcasting in Spanish.
On Twitter you have at your disposal game hero fighter the official accounts of the NASA (@ NASA), such as the Curiosity rover itself (@ MarsCuriosity) or ESA (@ esaoperations). But I recommend you follow the Mars Society Spain (@ tmse_sm), which published some twits Eureka harvest. Of course, game hero fighter you also have accounts Amazings.es (@ Amazings_es) and Sondasespaciales (@ Probes). You can also follow all the twits in Spanish about the event with the hashtag #VamosMSL. game hero fighter
As a supplement, you can check the local time of Curiosity on Mars with this little program, which is not bad for not tiing between terrestrial days-schedules- different zones and the Martians or soles days.
If you want information to understand and follow what is going on at all times, I'll do a little self-promotion and quote myself to recommend these links posted on Eureka: Curiosity, the robot Martian more complex story: A mission briefing published before the release last November. Ten curiosities of Curiosity, the Mars robot: a less technical view of some details of the mission. So will the decline of Curiosity on Mars: a comprehensive analysis of phase entry, descent and landing (EDL). Sequence drop Curiosity on Mars: a detailed events timeline EDL phase. The Curiosity that never were: brief history of Martian rovers: a summary of the history of the rovers on Mars. Curiosity, how we have changed: a view of the evolution of the design of Curiosity. It is less.
Just catches me on the way to gigs, I think I'll take the seedy-tablet to try to follow updates on the wifi bus. Then in the office I can barely open more than a few web, then I guess I can go finding how was landing. Responds
Congratulations to the NASA technicians and all agencies involved in the mission for your success! And congratulations to you, Daniel, for your invaluable game hero fighter communication and outreach work ... Go Curiosity!
