The U.S. company SpaceX today unveiled Dragon V2, nature created for NASA to return to carry astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS) from the national territory, and without relying on Russian Soyuz.
Since the withdrawal of the U.S. space shuttle Atlantis in July 2011, NASA was totally dependent on Russia to transport astronauts to the station, through the capsule and the Soyuz launch system.
Each time one of its astronauts traveling in a Soyuz, the United States pays $ 71 million ( 53.6 million) to Moscow. To end the dependence, the U.S. wants, from 2017, its astronauts to travel on the new spacecraft manufactured in the country by private companies like SpaceX.
