Hello, I have a home relatively modern desktop with two 1TB WD Green drives, 64MB cache. Drives are the fastest, I know. Other HDD in PC is not. Rides the Gentoo Linux and use software godahoppsudden RAID1 (created using mdadm, I md0 to boot, MD1 and MD2 system for home). The heart of the matter - the system occasionally hangs me ia few minutes. Reacts only what is in RAM and only if it does not necessarily read / write from / to the disk. The cleat is reflected in the view HDD LED illumination, whichever know that I have a break ... I've seen a couple of addiction and details: Cacti and SNMP - With Cacti, godahoppsudden I began Graph "Transitions" local disks (MDX). It should include requirements or directly read / written to disk (in my case, I'll just talk about the system godahoppsudden partition, others are ok). The numbers below. (For standarsního runtime godahoppsudden system goes up by tens - a reference number) Firefox - that it causes godahoppsudden always, sometimes two minutes after the start, godahoppsudden sometimes up to five, but always, most often on the page with Java Nevo Javascript or Ajax, also on tv. hokej.cz where to change the use of Moonlight (Opera on the same sites, this one does - except tv.hokej.cz, godahoppsudden moonlight me in Opera nejede). Transitions at the time of the notch - 3000 write, read standard BOINC - I have set for launch, although Ferefox coming, sometimes Sysstat hangs, attach to BOINC. When the notch I do not know, but when the PC does nothing else (no anonymous, no other activity) and 400 write and read standard. emerge --sync - Pile of entries godahoppsudden for the new / old packages, almost a certainty notch. Transitions nevysledováno When I turned up at the time of the notch iotop and an very top sits either [mdraid] or [JBD] (jfs? Now I'm not sure), or in the worst case, both. Utilization they show 99.9%. hdparm -TT shows the correct speed, one of the parameters indicates something tall, Ajko speed electronics in the disk (cache) and the other had a real reading speed, which for me is 90 to 100 megabytes / s, to think is ok. I do not know which direction to take me to get rid of this one, let alone knew what causes it. I suspect RAID, perhaps the discs. Does anyone know? Please Ask. PS: The question I mentioned in part on zive.cz, godahoppsudden so please godahoppsudden nekamenujte, if there happen to see
no me This here WD 1TB drives also occasionally did, was then in dmesg something godahoppsudden about AHCI (AHCI are using, right?), and something like this (but not exactly) [86.728816] ata3: hard resetting link [92.082064] ata3: link is slow to respond, please be patient (ready = 0) [96.774074] ata3: COMRESET failed (errno = -16) [96.774084] ata3: hard resetting link [102.128032] godahoppsudden ata3: link is slow to respond, godahoppsudden please be patient (ready = 0) [106.820032] ata3: COMRESET failed (errno = -16) [106.820043] ata3: hard resetting link [112.174157] ata3: link is slow to respond, please be patient (ready = 0) well and then I realized that these discs have a special jumper to something like "less interference" on the SATA bus, so I told them to put there to everyone and has since been Spread spectrum clocking godahoppsudden room enabled (SSC) to be made here: http://www.wdc.com/en/ library / sata / 2079-001042.pdf otherwise still need you can try shorter and better SATA cables

Regarding AHCI and dmesg say anything, I'm a PC and I'm not able to connect. Setting kernel too remember. godahoppsudden Jumpers on the disk, respectively. pins. They as shown on the label used for Windows XP and 4KB sectors godahoppsudden (or something - I did not care, Win XP on it are not and never will be). But I'll try to find out more. Regarding the / proc / mdstat I can say that I know of, in this respect, I am able to work with RAID;-) I will add that I have for all fields (partitions) enabled detection of bad Block and eventual godahoppsudden kick from the disk array (using mdadm - then in / proc / mdstat still show everyone at the [number /] which has to mean something, but so far I have yet to mdadm neprolezl - in any case it is according to mdadm Gentoo Handbook, there is also written that you may experience slower) - this thing but it does not, did it before godahoppsudden as well as after. Do appendix - hdparm godahoppsudden -TT shows the correct godahoppsudden speed, one of the parameters indicates something tall, Ajko speed electronics in the disk (cache) and the other had a real reading speed, which for me is 90 to 100 megabytes / s, to think is ok. Yet for me the important thing - you were too 1TB WD Green? Or Blue (or simply else)? godahoppsudden

stderr - when I get home tonight, I'll definitely. If someone has a home (on the server, a remote PC) WD drives with 4KB sektorama (preferably Green), send me here hdparm -i result of the disk. I'm starting to smell a problem godahoppsudden ...
no just do dmesg | grep AHCI [1.124526] AHCI 0000: 00: 11.0: version 3.0 [1.124547] AHCI 0000: 00: 11.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 22 (level, low) -> IRQ 22 [1.125194] AHCI 0000: 00: 11.0: AHCI 0001.0100 32 slots 6 ports 3 Gbps SATA mode 0x3f impl [1.125746] AHCI 0000: 00: 11.0: flags: 64bit NCQ SNTF ilck pm Ice duty pmp pio slum part ccc [1
